steelmonkey23 In a perfect world 'music in the style of Tull' would be a respected genre and Ian would be King of the world. In the meantime, Tull defines 'sui generis' and this project could have been so bad.... but it's really, really good. Really, really, REALLY good.

Carsten Pieper Clearly a labour of love and a wonderful tribute to the Tull classic that turns 50 this, er, next year. A must have for Tull fans!
Not only the musical world of TAAB is skillfully revived, this one also comes with extensive artwork and the physical version adds high-res stereo and DTS surround to the dish. One of the rare times I simply had to order the physical instead of the usual Bandcamp download ;-) Favorite track: Part 2: Time out.

Mekaniktom Was für eine wunderschöne Scheibe. Ich fühle mich 35 Jahre jünger und erinnere mich an den Moment, wo ich die frühe Phase von Jethro Tull für mich entdeckte. Danke für dieses Album.

Part 2: Time out I think it’s time to take a break, to take a time out. Looking at the passing years and the precious time that remains. Really don’t mind if it’s my turn to sit this one out. The substitute throws the ball and he hits the goal again. Remembering all the former teams and all the visions, how they gleamed. Cracks in the mirror, I’m not sure what I see. The good advice by everyone of working life and business fun sounds so far away, better look across the sea. The high-tech drive of virtual life grows on commercial ground. Cheap promises of endless fun, but so costly to pay. The world behind still true and wide, still new, lost and found. Manifold impressions, brand new every day. Remembering all the former dreams and all the visions, how they gleamed. Looking in the mirror, that’s completely unlike me. Turn off my smartphone and go out. The secret whisper is much too loud. Closing all auspicious doors with an old golden key. Life at a dash, the loud whip lash lead into the arena of questionable fame. The beasts of prey are hungry every day. The influential lions are difficult to tame.
3.
Part 3: Years on the Fast Track I think it’s time to take a break, to pull, to pull out some old, dusty memories that I haven’t missed until now.
4.
Part 4: RellingtonTown Down by the seashore, close to the river lies a small village, a place lost in reverie. The most exciting already forgotten. No newest tip in the paper, magazines or on TV. And the sun is reflected by the sea. Time has come for a psychedelic tea. And the sun’s shining down, shining down over me. Rellington Town. Painters, musicians, artists and actors, they bring new life and new style by and by into town. Unusual fashion, artisan craft-shops colour the streets with life and tantalising sounds. Best time for creating a hippie hype and take part in exciting sub-culture life. And this life’s shining down, shining down over me. Rellington Town. Tender moves, whispered words. Sufficient courage for a shy flirt. Long have I waited for this moment in time, lost in romantic daydreams. The coward’s fate softly flows into a real-life dream. Our lips touch softly and wet. My hand strokes gently over her head. Marvellous feelings overwhelm me, an ocean of sensual waves. Hovering besotted between nights and days. Then other players wearing gold watches answer the call in big numbers and quickly enter the stage. A simple collection of critical poems covered by dust long ago beside a yellowed page. Best time for students of business science to fish for careers in the big economy hype. And the sun’s going down, going down over me. Rellington Town – time to go now. Rellington Town – time to catch up. Rellington Town – time for a change.
5.
Part 5: The Club of Hopeful Pinions Take a running jump and you are welcome. Throw some darts at the globe. The money catcher wears a pinstripe suit, a red tie and shiny boots. Better change your style and your wardrobe. The moment has come to upgrade opinions. Come in to the club of hopeful pinions. Take heed of this important rule, never, never question the rules. Then you should have no difficulties. Hold onto this strict Code of Ethics. It’s above the law of mathematics, if needed adapt all statistics. Let us face the facts: Money makes the world go round. Only wimps need a mac. Without risk no successful launch. Surprised how easy it really was to find the entry point. Better keep your eyes open, many dangerous gaps to avoid. It requires some experience correctly to bind a tie. It also requires experience, discreetly to lie.
6.
Part 6: The Foray of the Sharks In the morning sun the newborn heroes are setting out for a new day. Completely equipped for every challenge they act quickly without any delay. With glossy brochures and phony flyers they swarm out, to snatch business deals, the heroes sell till they knock out! Misleading tables and pseudo-values feigning the magic of economy. There’s a sucker born every minute, food for the sharks’ society. Only the best get leading positions, the losers end on counter chairs or with all the others on the scrapheap. You can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs. In the morning sun the financial sharks are swimming out for a new day. Always in mind high completion rates, hoping the best for their next foray... Snap!
7.
Part 7: Sentimental Depreciation Suddenly surprised by some unnoticed changes. Quite surprised how many things are new: The manner of dress, the car, the wristwatch an d the hairstyle, the circle of friends and your point of view. Forgetting why the last girl-friend was gone and when the last old friends got back. Are their numbers saved, really, in the new smartphone? How long have I had this pain in the neck? Experienced moves, some dirty words. A forgotten surname, a discarded shirt. Sweet memories flash up shortly again, fast sensitive waves. Exchangeable situations on lonely days.
8.
Part 8: Nervesoothers Sold souls can afford any cool distraction. One of the most natural things, a smooth reaction. A pack of wild sports cars, flats around the world, professional wild sex dates – uncontrolled. There are several ways to stroke your conscience. charity donations in the millions. With well-known little helpers relaxing for the day. In a pool of pills and powders swimming away. Sold souls can afford any smooth distraction. One of the most natural things, a foolish fiction. Nervesoothers, nervesoothers...
9.
Part 9: The Great Dance around the Golden Calf For a qualified puppet master secret doors open faster, give you warm welcome to the secret league of finance jugglers and willing butlers. All of them tricky soldiers of fortune. Bundled credit risks, which smell unpleasantly, in a wondrous way they turn into securities. Nation-wide support by politicians making big declarations, but nothing of the sort! Receiving generous donations or later a pole position in a supervisory board. Secret accounts well-filled and well secured, bonuses, annual awards, lobbying runs like a clockwork. Financial analysts are flying kites, the finance sandcastles beside, will all, will all, will all collapse. A blood stain on a clean slate? Only a small mistake. It can be purged. Oh, great! Check out the washing machines, so noiseless a real good thing, for blood diamonds and every kind of money washing.
10.
Part 10: Bedlam The teams have lost all decency, all pushed by a white nose. In the long run everyone can only lose. The referee is already gone, made off long ago. The station is in utter bedlam. It’s wiser better to go. Play off. Life at a dash, the horrible, deafening crash lead to the dark side of fame. Still the beasts of prey are hungry every day, the sacred rule in this crazy game. All the golden calves are made of cheap fool’s gold. And many times this nothing has already been sold. The far view from above shows much as fake. The high fall from above could be the emergency brake. Break!
11.
Part 11: Look across the Sea Walk on safe ground. In company of dust free poems. Hear the majestic sound and look across the sea. Still between reset counters leaving the band of hunters, rediscovering refreshing hours. Drinking nice cups of tea. Back again in the same town, back again from the virtual cloud. Old lost friends rally round again. Now it’s up to me. Walk on familiar ground, accompanied by the Rellington Sound. Here again, lost and found, look across the sea. I think it’s time to take a break, to take a time out, looking at the passing years and the precious time that remains. But the game goes on with those wise men who still don’t know how it, how it feels to be thick as a brick.

about

Concurrent to the psychedelic rock formation MARGIN the multi-instrumentalist Lutz Meinert from Berlin, Germany launched the progressive rock projekt REFLECTION CLUB in 2017. With international participation he immediately began recording for the debut album Still Thick as a Brick. In this project Lutz Meinert (keyboards, bass, drums & percussion, background vocals) colloborated with the German guitarist Nils Conrad (CRYSTAL PALACE, ex FOR YOUR PLEASURE), the American flutist Ulla Harmuth and the English singer, acoustic guitar and flutist Paul Forrest (JETHRO TULL EXPERIENCE, ex DAYGLO PIRATES).
It is no coincidence that the title of the album brings to mind the 1972 masterpiece Thick as a Brick by the British rock band JETHRO TULL. This debut, however, is not a remake of Thick as a Brick. Instead Still Thick as a Brick is a tribute to the legendary classic. REFLECTION CLUB picks up the musical style of JETHRO TULL during their progressive rock phase between 1972 and 1973, expands on it with elements of jazz and fusion and creates a novel, nearly 48-minute-long, original composition, divided into 11 parts.

Like the 1972 classic predecessor Still Thick as a Brick is also a complex concept album. It contains a complete issue of a music magazine with a background article illuminating on the narrative background of the album, which can also be gleaned from the printed lyrics included.

Beyond that the story, on which the album is based, is visualised by an accompanying video as slide show, which extends over the entire HD stereo and surround mix on the attached DVD.

"Tull prog that is not copied, but inspired, arranged and produced with passion and compositional substance. Singer Paul Forrest shines, the fantastic presentation leaves nothing to be desired."

"Still Thick As A Brick" really doesn't need to hide behind its great role model "Thick As A Brick".

"All in all the music is captivating. Very well done, with a love for the original. More prog classics should be picked up in this way."
